Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started & Practice Logistics

How do I schedule an initial session or consultation?

You can reach out through the Contact page, email info@rootedmh.one, or call (650) 382-3814. I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to discuss what you are looking for, answer questions, and ensure we are a good fit before booking our first session.

Do you offer in-person therapy, telehealth, or both?

I offer both. In-person sessions take place at my office in Mountain View, California. I also provide secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth video sessions to individuals, couples, and families residing anywhere across California.

What can I expect during our first session?

Our initial intake session (50–75 minutes) focuses on building a safe, collaborative foundation. We will explore your background, current challenges, family dynamics, and what success in therapy looks like for you. It is an open space to ask questions, share at your own pace, and clarify your goals.

Therapeutic Approach & Specialties

What is your therapeutic approach?

I practice from an integrative, systemic, and culturally responsive framework. This means we do not just look at symptoms in isolation—we explore how your identity, relationships, family history, and cultural context shape your lived experience. My goal is to provide a grounded, warm, and collaborative environment that fosters both deep self-insight and practical resilience.

What types of challenges do you specialize in working with?

My practice focuses on:

  • Life Transitions & Stress Management: Navigating major career, personal, or family shifts, burnout, and anxiety.
  • Relational & Stepfamily Dynamics: Strengthening communication, resolving ongoing conflict, and navigating blended family systems.
  • Cultural Identity & Intergenerational Dynamics: Exploring intersectional identities, multicultural relationships, and first-generation or immigrant family experiences.
  • Caregiver Strain & Role Burnout: Supporting individuals balancing heavy family, professional, or caregiving demands.

Fees, Insurance & Superbills

Do you accept health insurance?

Rooted Mental Health is a private-pay (out-of-network) practice. I do not bill insurance directly. Paying out of pocket allows us complete clinical freedom over your treatment plan, session length, and diagnosis without insurance company interference or limits.

Can I use my out-of-network insurance benefits?

Yes. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network coverage, such as a PPO, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. Upon request, I can provide a monthly itemized receipt called a Superbill to submit to your insurance company.

Tip: Before your first session, consider asking your insurance provider: “What are my out-of-network mental health benefits for outpatient psychotherapy?”

What are your session fees?

  • Individual Therapy (50 minutes): $180
  • Couples & Family Therapy (50 minutes): $200

Fees are payable at the time of service via credit card, debit card, HSA (Health Savings Account), or FSA (Flexible Spending Account).

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 48 hours’ advance notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Standard session fees apply to non-emergency cancellations made within less than the required notice window.
